Notes
When NBC's new Western series Bonanza was in preparation for its 1959 first season, Vice President in charge of programming Alan Livingston turned to his Oscar-winning brother, Jay Livingston and his writing parter, Ray Evens, to write the theme song. Recorded anew for each season, the original theme tune was briefly replaced in seasons 12 and 13 with a new tune by David Rose, who wrote the incidental music for the show, before the original was restored for the final season. It remains one of the most recognisable of TV theme tunes.
