The Composers

Ferdinando Carulli

Originally a cellist, Carulli was probably the first great guitar virtuoso.

He wrote the treatise, Harmony Applied to the Guitar, as well as many study pieces.

After several foreign tours he settled in Paris, then perhaps the capital of musical knowledge, where he acquired a large following as a teacher of the guitar.

- MIDI FILE - Andante for guitar (5’55’ )

His compositions favour the scale now called chamber music.

He also wrote for full orchestra.
