Mozart Unwrapped 88:52

There's so much music by Mozart that it offers a lifetime of pleasure unwrapping new and rarely played pieces by his hand. He wrote his opera 'La finta giardiniera' - The Pretend Garden-Girl - in Munich in 1775 when just 18 years old. It has never been appreciated in the way that the likes of Don Giovanni are praised today, but it's music offers delightful moments that foretell his mature style. The 9th piano concerto - the Jeanehomme - he wrote just a couple of years after in 1777 whilst in Salzburg. It's believed he wrote the piece for an unknown young woman when she visited the city, perhaps the daughter of a famous dancer and close friend of the composer's.
