A Feast of Organ Music 96:46

One of the oldest musical instruments in the Western musical tradition is the organ. By around the 8th century it had overcome early associations with gladiatorial combat and gradually assumed a prominent place in the Catholic Church before later re-emerging as a secular and recital instrument. As an organist and revered organ consultant, J.S. Bach wrote music that allowed this instrument to thrive. His Toccata and Fugure in D minor is arguably the most famous organ work of all time. Since Bach, several compsoers have produced interesting music for the organ that is rarely heard in concert.
