Nancy Bloomer Deussen
Nancy Bloomer Deussen is well known throughout the San Francisco Bay Area as a composer, performer and arts organizer. She is a leader in the growing movement for more melodic, tonally oriented contemporary music and is co-founder, Chairman of the National Board and Vice-President of the SF Bay Chapter of the National Association of Composers, USA. Her original works have been performed throughout the US and Canada and she has received numerous commissions both locally and nationally from such performers and ensembles as: The Oakland Chamber Orchestra, The Walnut Street Chamber Ensemble (Phila), The Baton Rouge Concert Band, The Augustana College Band, The Bresquan Trio, The Santa Clara Chorale, The Women's Caucus in the Arts, OPUS 90 Chamber Ensemble, Richard Nunemaker, clarinetist, the Tanana HS Band of Fairbanks, AK, the Gabrieli Brass, Soundmoves (Western Oregon University), the Mission Chamber Orchestra, flutist Angela Koregelos and Pianist Zoe Smith, Sempervirens environmental group, Jim and Pat Watt, Mu Phi Epsilon, the Choral Project, San Francisco Choral Artists, guitarist Thomas Amoreillo, The Foundation for Universal Sacred Music and others.
Her orchestral and chamber works have been performed by orchestras and ensembles throughout the United States. Some of these include Marin Symphony, Redlands Symphony, East Kansas Symphony,New England Philharmonic,The Stanford Woodwind Quintet, Northwind Quintet (Los Angeles), UC Stanislaus Woodwind Quintet, St Luke's Chamber Ensemble (NY), Florida West Coast Symphony, Mission Chamber Orchestra, Palo Alto Chamber Orchestra, Diablo Symphony, Baytown Symphony (TX), Dubuque and Vermont Youth Symphonies, Tulare County Symphony, Palo Alto Philharmonic, The University Orchestras of Clemson, Iowa State, James Madison, University at Albany, Providence College (RI), Santa Clara University and Calif State University at Hayward ,Menlo Brass Quintet, The Gabrieli Brass, Amercian Chamber Ensemble,The United States Military Academy Band at West Point and others.
Ms Bloomer Deussen is a graduate of the Manhattan School of Music and the USC School of Music and her teachers of composition were: Vittorio Giannini, Lukas Foss, Ingolf Dahl and Wilson Coker.
