Rich and diverse, the music of Latin America blends Spanish, African and indigenous influences. Many countries take ownership of a dance form; the tango in Argentina; the samba in Brazil; the Bolero in Cuba; the Méringue in Haiti; and the Bomba in Puerto Rica. Some interesting composers to explore include Cuba's guitar virtuoso Leo Brouwer; Mexico's Carlos Chavez who carefully studied Aztec music; the 'Bartok of the Pampas' Argentinian Alberto Ginastera; and Brazil's Heitor Villa-Lobos, celebrated for his nine pieces in homage to J.S. Bach entitled Bachianas Brasileiras.
