The Golden Age of the American Musical

Musical theatre showcases American musicians at the very top of their game. The so-called Golden Age of the musical saw composers such as Irving Berlin, Cole Porter, Richard Rodgers, and George Gershwin put their stamp on the genre with big hits such as Oklahoma!, Annie Get Your Gun, and Kiss Me Kate, shortly followed by Bernstein's West Side Story and Sondheim's Gypsy. Through beautiful music and clever lyrics, we come to share the hopes and fears of these characters, humming their songs all the way home.

Like a fond reunion with old friends, enjoy this collection of hits from film musicals, including the immortal American classic West Side Story and Jerry Bock's remarkable Fiddler on the Roof.
