Joseph Bodin de Boismortier

French Born 23 Dec 1689 Died 28 Oct 1755

In parallel with his studies at the Royal Conservatoires of Ghent and Brussels, Patrick Peire also obtained a psychology degree and a degree in musicology at the State University of Ghent. He then went to Cologne and The Hague for further study in early music and historical performance practice. In addition to teaching classes at the Royal Conservatory of Ghent and the Lemmens Institute, he regularly gives master-classes as a visiting professor.

As an instrumentalist he gave numerous concerts with chamber ensembles in Belgium and abroad, but since founding the Collegium Instrumentale Brugensis in 1970, he has increasingly devoted himself to conducting. In 1986 he also took on the direction of the New Flanders Symphony Orchestra, allowing him to explore the symphonic repertory.
