Born in 1943, Bruno Pasquier comes from an illustrious family of musicians. In 1963 he was awarded first prizes in viola and chamber music at the Paris Conservatoire. After winning an international prize in the 1965 String Quartet Competition in Munich, he joined the orchestra of the Paris Opera, shortly afterwards being appointed first violist.

One of the world's most gifted violists, Bruno Pasquier has performed to critical acclaim in North America and throughout Europe, collaborating with artists such as Isaac Stern, Yehudi Menuhin, Paul Tortelier and Jean-Pierre Rampal. In 1978 Lorin Maazel invited him on a tour of Japan as a soloist with the French National Orchestra.

In addition to his teaching at the international academies of Montreux and Salzburg, Bruno Pasquier has taught at the Paris Conservatoire since 1972.
