The Italian mezzo-soprano Sarah M'Punga was born to Zairean parents and studied singing, piano and classical dance in Sassari. Further study in Mantova and Parma with Carlo Bergonzi, Gianni Raimondi and Daniele Rubboldi followed, and she made her debut as a soloist in Bernstein's Chichester Psalms. She won the overall first prize at the Voci Pucciniane competition in Milan, and recently took part in the Gran Gla della Lirica transmitted live by Canale 5. Sarah's performances have taken her all over Italy and, alongside an extensive operatic repertoire, she performs sacred and chamber music.
