Founded in 1974 by conductor Richard Kapp, Philharmonia Virtuosi has established itself as one of America's leading chamber orchestras. Known for its wide-ranging repertoire and best-selling recordings, the orchestra makes regular appearances all over New York. The 2002-3 season marks Philharmonia Virtuosi's 25th year presenting concerts at Purchase College's Performing Arts Center. The orchestra is also in its 12th season as resident chamber orchestra at The Metropolitan Museum of Art, and has appeared at Carnegie Hall and Avery Fisher Hall.

Philharmonia Virtuosi also makes regular national and international tours and has performed throughout the US, Canada and Japan, making their European debut in Spain in 1995. The orchestra is also the featured ensemble for Cunard Lines' Classical Music Theme Cruises and have performed on the luxury liners, QE2 and Vistafjord. Deeply committed to educational programming for younger listeners, Philharmonia Virtuosi's Cushion Concerts for children ages 4-7 and Kids Attend Free programme for all its other performances, ensure that the next generation of musicians are well catered for.

The orchestra has released a number of best-selling recordings for CBS Records, RCA Victor, BMG and Vox. Several of the discs recorded for the ESS.A.Y label have been critically acclaimed, including a performance of Vivaldi's Four Seasons.
