Gordon (Percival Septimus) Jacob


An active violinist in New York, Richard Rood made his first solo TV appearance at the age of 12 and at 18 won first prize in a Swiss violin competition. He studied at the Manhattan Schoold of Music and his teachers have included Margaret Randall, Charles Castleman and Raphael Bronstein. A former principal with Philharmonia Virtuosi and the New York Chamber Symphony, he has also been a regular performer with the Orpheus Chamber Orchestra, the Lincoln Center's Mostly Mozart Festival and the American Symphony Orchestra. He is Associate Concertmaster of the Santa Fe Opera and also performs with the New York City Opera and American Ballet Theater orchestras.

Richard Rood has made critically-acclaimed solo recordings of Bach and Vivaldi concerti and the chamber music of Dvor├ík and Copland. He has performed in over 20 countries and worked extensively with contemporary composer Steve Reich. He lives in the village of Pelham Manor, NY with his wife and two children.
