Charles Villiers Stanford


One of the world's leading accompanists, Malcolm Martineau has worked with artists of the calibre of Dame Janet Baker, Dame Felicity Lott, Barbara Bonney, Thomas Allen, Dame Joan Sutherland, and Elisabeth Schwarzkopf. In addition to singers, he also accompanies instrumentalists such as clarinettist Emma Johnson.

Born in Edinburgh, Martineau read music at St. Catherine's College, Cambridge before going on to study the piano at the Royal College of Music. His career has taken him all over the world, and he has appeared at Festivals in Vienna, Salzburg, North and South America, and Aix-en-Provence. He has made many broadcasts for the BBC and has a full and varied recording career for EMI, Decca, and Deutsche Grammaphon.
