Beethoven's Pastoral
Classical Academy | Orchestral Music | Composers
Ludvig van Beethoven would have been in his element during the long summer days of July and August. A lover of nature, he spent much of his time outdoors on walks in the country, often leaving Vienna to work in rural locales.
His Sixth Symphony, is aptly named the 'Pastoral'. "It is left to the listener to find out the situations...", remarked the composer. "Anyone that has formed any idea of rural life does not need titles to imagine the composer’s intentions".
Try stepping into Beethoven's shoes by listening to the Pastoral during a walk in the countryside. This recording features the full symphony alongside the enigmatic Egmont, another beautiful piece to accompany you on a stroll through the fields.
